Biography

The deceased had spent 26 years in Victoria before moving to Western Australia. He had been suffering from those health conditions for 'some years standing', according to the Death Certificate.

His mother, Elizabeth Thomas, was born 22 May 1822 at Llandygwydd, Wales. Her first marriage, in Wales was to an Evan Rees on 19 July 1847 at Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. She bore him two children before he died on 25 March 1853. In 1854, she married Thomas John Thomas and the couple had a further 6 children. Elizabeth was born 1855 in Wales before the family decided to emigrate to Australia between 1855 and 1858. Their second daughter, Mary Ann Catherine Victoria was born in Victoria 10 March 1858. Then followed David Benjamin born 1860; Margaret Jane born 1862; Moriss Daniel born 1866 and finally William James in 1867.

Elizabeth died in 1903 in Heathcote. Her husband died there in 1910. The deceased, William James, left his estate to his siblings, David Benjamin Thomas and Margaret Moore. It was valued at £216 13.
