Not much was known of him except that he came from Leonora some three weeks previously, where he had been an inmate of the Government Hospital, suffering from heart trouble. It was the finding of the Justice who held a Magisterial Inquiry at Kookynie on 20 December 1912, Mr J.C. Harvey, Acting Coroner, that the deceased died of a "supposed Mordus Cordis".
