Richard Rowlands was found dead in a vacant house in Cosmo street, Kookynie, on the morning of Saturday 21 December. Not much was known of him except that he came from Leonora some three weeks previously, where he had been an inmate of the Government Hospital, suffering from heart trouble. It was the finding of the Justice who held a Magisterial Inquiry at Kookynie on 20 December 1912, Mr J.C. Harvey, Acting Coroner, that the deceased died of a "supposed Mordus Cordis". The deceased is buried in the Non-Conformist portion of the Kookynie Cemetery.
