It was the verdict of the coroner's jury at the inquest held in Kookynie on 8 July 1902, that the deceased had thrown himself down the mine shaft during a fit of temporary insanity.
The deceased had been working in the Batavia mine. He was a well-known footballer and cyclist.
The death was certified in writing by Charles Lamb, Undertaker, Kookynie.
