"Known as Edward, Mr Cooke, boarding-house proprietor, expired at his residence, Cumberland-street on 10 June 1901. The deceased was only laid up for a few days, suffering from pneumonia. He was a native of Ireland, and had attained the age of 56. The funeral is to leave his late residence at 10 30 a.m. tomorrow (Monday)." The deceased had been suffering from chronic nephritis, congestion and pneumonia for four days. His death was certified in writing by Charles Lamb, Undertaker, of Kookynie. He was buried by Charles Lamb. The burial was witnesses by E.W. Eaton and Thomas Campbell. The deceased had lived in the eastern states for some 30 years before moving to Western Australia.
